C-01 Programs & activities

Our program areas and activity framework.

Eight connected areas describe the themes we work on and the kinds of activities we plan. Together they form the framework for our educational and community-oriented work.

Planned vs. completed

The program areas below describe our planned activity framework. Specific completed activities are reported separately in our Events and activity reports once they have taken place and been documented.

P-01 · Program 1

Urban Planning Education

Status: planned framework

Accessible learning that introduces the fundamentals of urbanism and spatial planning.

Planning documents, zoning maps and development strategies shape daily life, yet few people are taught how to read them. This program is designed to change that through introductory sessions, guided walks and plain-language materials that explain how decisions about land and space are made.

Topics

  • Introduction to urban planning
  • How cities develop and change
  • Understanding land use
  • The relationship between buildings and public spaces
  • Principles of sustainable development
  • Urban challenges and possible solutions

P-02 · Program 2

Sustainable Cities Initiative

Status: planned framework

Raising awareness of environmentally responsible urban development.

Climate, water and heat are now planning questions as much as environmental ones. The initiative looks at how streets, courtyards, housing estates and river corridors can be adapted so that towns remain healthy and liveable for the next generations.

Topics

  • Green infrastructure
  • Urban greenery and biodiversity
  • Climate-conscious planning
  • Sustainable neighbourhoods
  • Environmental responsibility
  • Resilient urban communities

P-03 · Program 3

Community Participation & Civic Engagement

Status: planned framework

Helping people understand their role in local development.

Public consultation only works when residents know when and how to take part. We prepare formats — map workshops, neighbourhood discussions, explanatory sessions — that make participation less intimidating and more constructive for everyone at the table.

Topics

  • Community discussions
  • Public space awareness
  • Participatory planning concepts
  • Neighbourhood development
  • Community needs and priorities
  • Constructive civic dialogue

P-04 · Program 4

Public Spaces & Urban Quality

Status: planned framework

Exploring why well-designed public spaces matter.

A square, a park bench or a safe crossing can decide whether people spend time in a place or avoid it. This program observes and discusses the qualities that make public space welcoming, and how small interventions can improve them.

Topics

  • Parks and green areas
  • Pedestrian-friendly environments
  • Accessible public infrastructure
  • Community gathering places
  • Safe and welcoming streets
  • Public space quality

P-05 · Program 5

Youth & Urban Awareness

Status: planned framework

Encouraging younger generations to explore their towns.

Young people will live longest with today's planning choices. Through creative assignments, mapping exercises and introductions to architecture, we want to help students look at their surroundings with curiosity and confidence.

Topics

  • Educational awareness activities
  • Creative urban thinking
  • Introduction to architecture and planning
  • Understanding local environments
  • Youth participation in community discussions

P-06 · Program 6

Knowledge Sharing & Public Awareness

Status: planned framework

Making planning information understandable and available.

We prepare articles, presentations and explanatory materials that translate technical planning language into clear, everyday terms — so that more people can follow and contribute to debates about their surroundings.

Topics

  • Educational materials
  • Informational articles
  • Presentations
  • Open discussions

P-07 · Program 7

Inclusive & Accessible Communities

Status: planned framework

Places that work for people of all ages and abilities.

Steps without ramps, narrow pavements and missing benches exclude people quietly. This program raises awareness of universal design and of the everyday barriers faced by older residents, parents with prams and people with disabilities.

Topics

  • Universal design principles
  • Barrier-free public space
  • Age-friendly neighbourhoods
  • Listening to diverse needs

P-08 · Program 8

Research & Urban Observation

Status: planned framework

Studying how neighbourhoods actually function.

Good discussion starts with careful observation. We encourage structured walks, simple counts and documentation of neighbourhood characteristics so that conversations about change rest on what can be seen on the ground.

Topics

  • Neighbourhood observation
  • Documenting urban characteristics
  • Identifying local challenges
  • Sharing findings openly
